Split Set® friction rock nails are produced by Akcan Metal® Turkey for use in mines, tunnels, sloping underground or surface applications or wherever reliable ground support is needed. Split Set nails are corrugated steel tubing with a tapered end for easy insertion into the hole drilled for mounting. At the other end there is a welded ring to hold the bearing (support) plate. In the hole drilled for mounting, the nail applies radial pressure against the rock along its full contact length and the bearing (support) plate provides bearing support. Split Set nails, unlike other anchoring applications, grasp the rock completely along the contact length, not at one point. The pipe and bedplate apply pressure against the rock immediately after installation.
